About Our School

St. Michael Catholic School, located directly next door to the parish, has been in the heart of “Old North” for close to 100 years. As a Catholic school community we are rooted in a longstanding tradition of academic excellence and a living witness to our belief that the “Spirit is alive in our Catholic Schools”.

St. Michael Catholic School – the home of the “Flames” was originally built in 1912. To the west and the north the Thames River provides our borders. To the east we extend as far as Barker Street and in the south, York Street forms our boundary. Many changes have occurred during the building’s history, however, the original school layout has remained largely unchanged until a significant addition was completed in 1966. Over the years, the community has witnessed significant fluctuations in its population. More recently, we have experienced growth in our population and have added two portables to our school to accommodate our students.

We provide a distinctively Catholic education that allows each child the opportunities and experiences that contribute to the development of the whole child. Within these experiences we focus on high expectations for all learners that are rooted in our Gospel teachings. Through a collaborative approach with staff, parents, our parish team and community volunteers we are also blessed to have numerous additional opportunities for our students to grow outside of the regular classroom.

The staff and students at St. Michael Catholic School pride ourselves in being a safe and welcoming Catholic school community. Our doors are always open to visitors and we encourage volunteers to share their talents and skills with the students in our school.

Living Our Faith

St. Michael Catholic School is a vibrant and active school community that focuses on establishing and maintaining links to our immediate community and the greater world around us. The staff and student body take daily opportunities for prayer and we celebrate our Catholic faith through monthly masses, classroom liturgies, Virtuous Reality assemblies, and works of service in our community, and the celebration of the Sacraments of first Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
